Job Description

The College and Career/School to Work Coordinator will assist district and school administrators in developing and implementing aligned K-12 college and career preparation program. Student goals will be achieved through dual credit, advanced placement, credit recovery, online coursework, daily instruction, early graduation, career readiness coursework, apprenticeships, mentoring, shadowing, clinical rotations, and cooperative work experiences in the community. Student Individual Learning Plans will be closely monitored for growth and successful learning experiences.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a program for College and Career exploration for grades 9-12 at Waterloo High School that includes using College and Career readiness software
  • Foster student’s self-exploration of interests, abilities, values and goals
  • Planning and preparation for college admission tests
  • Guide all students in recognizing their strengths and attributes through the use of aptitude assessments, interviews and individual planning
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local business and community members including Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Development, and United Way
  • Develop college and career information nights/afterschool activities and workshops
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with college admissions offices, including Finger Lakes Community College, Cayuga Community college and Hobart and William Smith Colleges
  • Coordinate mock interviews, resume writing, job shadowing, and local business visits in support of the school’s career exploration program
  • Coordinate and assign credit to students for outside based opportunities
  • Facilitate school to work internships, job shadowing and paid work experiences with local business owners
  • Develop and maintain parent and community communication regarding career education including the use of social media tools
  • Develop marketing material, brochures, presentations and forms for various programs including internships with business partnerships
  • Represent Waterloo Central School District as an active participant on local and county business committees and college admissions offices
  • Attend meetings as directed by administrators
  • Coordinate data collection relevant to student experiences Grades 9-12
  • Collaborate with Elementary, Middle and High School Counselors and Finger Lakes Community College to develop and implements a K-12 aligned college and career readiness counseling program.
Job Qualifications
  • NYS Certification as a School Counselor
  • A minimum of five years of Secondary Counseling Experience
