Head School Bus Driver
10-month position, 8 Hours/day, 40 hours/week
An exam for this title will be held at a future date. Appointments will be provisional prior to receiving exam results.
DUTIES: Under the supervision of the School Transportation Director assists in coordinating and directing the actions of school bus drivers. A small degree of latitude is exercised by the employee in implementing and carrying out established policies of the transportation program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates a School Bus on a Regular Route
- Prepares or assists in preparation of bus routes & schedules
- Assigns Drivers to regular and special field trips
- May interview prospective drivers and recommend them to supervisor for hiring
- Maintains trip records and prepares transportation reports including accident reports, bus mileage & fuel usage.
- May train new drivers,
- Checks on the cleanliness and operation of buses, keeps a continuing check on the maintenance and operation of all school district buses.
- May assist in preparing transportation budget estimates and recommendations.
- May advise the transportation supervisor of road hazards which may necessitate school closings.
- Other duties as assigned by transportation supervisor.
SALARY: per contract
